A Little Blotchy by NVpixie on Tue Mar 01, 2011 5:27 pm
My skin is a little more blotchy than yesterday, but it's nothing a little minerals can't cover up. The tea tree oil still seems to be working for me for the most part.

What I hope to find is a good facial moisurizer to use instead of the body lotion I've been using. I might try the plain Olay if it's unscented. A trip to the drug store today is definitely needed.

Triggers by NVpixie on Mon Feb 28, 2011 9:14 pm
I forgot to mention in my introduction that I realized, after some internet research on rosacea triggers, that drinking alcohol causes flare-ups for many people, as does spicy food (my fave (doh) ), and hot beverages (would be so sad to have to give up green tea and coffee).

After my most recent, and worst ever, flare-up, I decided to stop drinking alcohol, at least for awhile. I had some red wine a day or two before and am convinced I shouldn't drink cabernet anymore.

I also believe that stress is a major trigger for me. Dehydration is a bad thing too so I'm watching my water intake very closely.

I tried eliminating coffee last week, but after two days I had nasty caffeine withdrawl. I wouldn't have believed it except I felt 100% better after a cup of 1/2 regular 1/2 decaf in the afternoon. I'll never go off the coffee again!

I haven't stopped drinking hot beverages or eating spicy...

My Rosacea History by NVpixie on Mon Feb 28, 2011 9:05 pm
This is what I posted in the forum to introduce myself:

Hi Everyone. I’m new to the forum, but not newly diagnosed. Actually, I haven’t ever been officially diagnosed by a doctor. Several months ago, I did a bit of Internet research and realized I probably have a mild case of Rosacea.

A bit of history: I’m 36 years old, fair-skinned, sunburn easily, and as far as I can remember, have always had red/bright pink cheeks, nose, and chin. I flush easily, especially when I’m feeling too warm. In the past year or so, I have acquired some broken capillaries on my cheeks, nose, and chin. I don’t get many actual pimples, but I have tons of blackheads on my nose and chin and bumpy skin on my cheeks and chin. I’m really sensitive to fragrance in any products (lotions, cleansers, etc.). I had never used any products that claim to help the redness. I have also suffered from eczema and toenail fungus.

Then, about a month ago, I decided to try the Aveeno Ultra Calming line and bought the cream clean...

The Purpose of This Blog by NVpixie on Mon Feb 28, 2011 9:03 pm
I want to track my quest to rid my face of this rosacea plague.

I will log what seems to work for me, what seems to make things worse (triggers, remedies, etc.), and discuss my general feelings about rosacea.

A Non-Pharm Co. prescription that worked for me. by jnnalbers on Fri Feb 18, 2011 8:02 pm
Hi, Folks. I am new to this "blog" process. Just found the org. website, and felt I had to share something that worked wonders for me. (And I was very skeptical!) In Littleton, CO, a Dr. J. Straight, was treating me for something else, noticed I had rosacea and gave me a script for a nearby pharmacy. He told me the pharmacist had this brilliant "mix" that he makes himself, and that if I put it on my clean face each evening for even two weeks, I could clear my skin. (Did not believe him, was new to this dr. but tried it, "just in case.") Went to that Clearspring Pharmacy nearby (on So. Broadway). It took the pharmacist maybe 15 minutes to make me this little bottle of cream stuff. The only words on the bottle telling the med are: "METROI IDAZOLE 1% CREAM."

All I know, folks, is that it works! It cleared my skin within 2-3 weeks - putting on maybe a little-finger-tip spot on and smearing it in well at bedtime. Just recently, a bit of...
